Nat 1 Publishing, a literary nonprofit

We like the strange, quirky, and unique. We aim to find entertaining stories in the Sci-Fi/Fantasy genre by both new and established writers worldwide—particularly those of underrepresented demographics. Working with the authors, we dedicate our services to honing their craft and getting their work out to an audience that will enjoy and appreciate it.

***

Decisions on stories are made the month after a project's submission window closes; novella/novelette submissions within six months.

***

Our genre

We primarily deal in science fiction and fantasy with a dash of humor (comedy, satire, or parody). Most of our work falls under LitRPG/game lit, but we accept any subgenre of SF/F.

Audience Askew Literary Journal & Chapbooks

An imprint of Nat 1 Publishing, we also like the strange, quirky, and unique. But while the Nat 1 anthologies are geared towards science-fiction and fantasy, Audience Askew stays firm in literary fiction, poetry, and artwork. We are a quarterly magazine that features a dozen or so stories that could be best described as the black sheep of the literary world. So send us the stories, stanzas, and visual arts that don't quite fit in anywhere else.

***

We make our decisions on which works are accepted the month after a submission period ends unless an author selects to expedite their entry.

***

Each volume consists of four issues.

Issue I (summer) released July 15th – Theme announced on call (Submission window: January 1 - March 31.)

Issue II (autumn) released October 15th – Horror/spooky (Submission window: April 1 - June 30.)

Issue III (winter) released January 15th – Theme announced on call (Submission window: July 1 - September 30.)

Issue IV (spring) released April 15th – Unthemed issue (Submission window: October 1 - December 31.)

Gaslamp Pulp Zine

Nat 1 Publishing's second magazine, geared toward science-fiction and fantasy. We are a biannual magazine that features intriguing and original short stories, poetry, and art.

***

We accept submissions year-round and make our decisions on which works are accepted two months before an issue is released unless an author selects to expedite their entry.

***

Every year we produce to issues, one geared toward fantasy and the other science fiction. We also may occasionally have special themed issued, so be sure to keep checking back!

We’re seeking the strange, the bold, and the boundary-breaking. Breaking the Genre is an anthology for fiction that doesn’t fit anywhere else—stories that blur genres, subvert expectations, and twist narrative conventions into something unclassifiable. Whether your work is experimental, surreal, genre-bending, or just plain weird, we want to see the risks you're willing to take with form, voice, or structure. Send us the stories that defy categorization—the ones that make readers ask, what did I just read? but leave them thinking about it long after they're done.

Note: Due to its nature, this anthology is expected to be small, but we are looking for at least five quality submissions to go to print.
